ARLINGTON, Texas - The United States not only came away with 28 gold medals at the 50th Lee Evans Tournament of the Americas but with a wealth of experience that will help each player in the future.

United States delegation TofAThe tournament concluded Saturday in Tamarac, Fla., with the United States claiming the team gold medal in four of the five divisions at Sawgrass Lanes. The U.S. took gold in the Junior A (ages 16-19), Junior B (ages 12-15), Senior and Super Senior divisions, while Team USA finished with the bronze in the Adult division.

"This tournament was a great experience builder for all of our U.S. athletes," Team USA assistant coach Bryan O'Keefe said. "The lane conditions were demanding along with the format and tough field. Each event, the players bowled one game on long and the next game on short, making repeating shots early in games that much more important."

In addition to winning four team gold medals, the United States also locked up six individual all-events gold medals and won the national all-events in four of the five divisions. The U.S. took bronze in the Adult national all-events.

Three U.S. players managed to complete the gold-medal sweep, winning the gold in every event in which they participated.

Junior Team USA members Kamron Doyle (Junior B division) and Tyler Cruz (Junior A division) as well as Super Senior Lucy Sandelin brought home gold medals in singles, doubles, mixed doubles, team, individual all-events and national all-events for six total gold medals. Colombia's Manuel Otalora also accomplished the feat.

Other individual all-events winners for the United States were Holly Harris (Junior A), Brian Brazeau (Senior) and Ed Roberts (Super Senior).

The Lee Evans Tournament of the Americas is the oldest annual international tournament in the American Zone. The invitational competition for countries of PABCON (Pan American Bowling Confederation - the American Zone of World Tenpin Bowling Association) has five divisions for men and women.
